AN ART & CULTURE
ANALOG IMMERSION
Presented by AKARU × SELVATICAZ
19–22 NOVEMBER 2026 // PONELOYA, NICARAGUA
There was a time when evenings belonged to conversation. When photographs took weeks to return. When ideas arrived slowly. When artists gathered to inspire one another….
FOR FOUR DAYS ON NICARAGUA’S PACIFIC COAST, WE REIMAGINE THIS ATMOSPHERE. A GATHERING OF ARTISTS, WRITERS, MUSICIANS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, MAKERS, DREAMERS, AND OBSERVERS.

PART LITERARY SALON.
PART ARTIST RESIDENCY.
PART CULTURAL GATHERING.
THIS IMMERSION IS INTERESTED IN REVIVING WHAT MODERN LIFE IS SLOWLY ALLOWING TO FADE: THE PEOPLE, PLACES, AND IDEAS WE OVERLOOK WHEN MOVING TOO QUICKLY. THE POSSIBILITY THAT CREATIVITY DOES NOT FLOURISH THROUGH CONSTANT STIMULATION, BUT THROUGH SPACE, ATTENTION, AND INTENTIONAL ENCOUNTERS.
The rare luxury of slowness, presence, and meaningful exchange: Upon arrival, phones are collected and replaced with a film camera & conversation becomes an art form once again. Set between the ocean and the palms, the days unfold through movement, writing circles, local cultural exchange, shared tables, candlelit evenings, music, storytelling, and long conversations that dare to wander beyond the surface.

WHAT REMAINS WHEN DISTRACTION DISAPPEARS?
Perhaps that is the question.
And perhaps, for a few days, there is no need to answer it….
Only to experience it.
THE EXPERIENCE //

The immersion begins in León, Nicaragua, where we will all gather for a shared dinner, surrender our phones, and meet one another before traveling together to the coast and reaching Akaru Residency.
MORNINGS
The days begin slowly. Movement beneath the palms. Meditation. Sound healing. Ocean swims. Journaling and creative prompts. Coffee shared in silence or conversation. A communal organic breakfast gathered around the table. The gradual return to attention & intentional slowness to start the day.
AFTERNOONS
The afternoons are dedicated to creation, cultural exchange, and exploration.
You are invited into workshops with local artists, artisans, and knowledge keepers whose practices remain deeply rooted in place.
Together, we will spend time with Chorotega ceramicists who continue to shape clay using ancestral techniques passed down through generations.
We will also learn from a women-led cooperative working with one of Nicaragua’s most important native plants: cacao, learning about its cultural, historical, and creative significance.
Alongside these experiences, there is space for skill-sharing circles, collaborative projects, personal creative practice, writing, photography, reading, wandering, and simply allowing ideas to arrive at their own pace.
EVENINGS
As the sun disappears behind the Pacific, the gathering shifts once again.
Shared dinners. Candlelight. Music. Open mics. Bonfires. Stories exchanged beneath the stars. Conversations that stretch long into the night and occasionally become the most memorable part of the entire experience.

ABOUT THE HOSTS //
a meeting between two worlds

AKARU
Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the palms of Poneloya, Nicaragua, Akaru is an art residency and creative sanctuary where artists, writers, musicians, and seekers gather to reconnect with themselves, their practice, and one another.
Rooted in creativity, community, and wellbeing, Akaru offers a space where artistic exploration unfolds alongside movement, nature, cultural exchange, and slower ways of living.

SELVATICAZ
Selvaticaz is an independent print publication and cultural platform dedicated to stories that center women, artistic becoming, and analog rebellion: a return to slowness, depth, creativity, and meaningful human connection in an age of distraction. Through publications, art, storytelling and immersive experiences, Selvaticaz explores the intersections of art, culture, feminine narratives, and the preservation of indigenous knowledge and stories that deserve to be remembered.

Now, imagine yourself here.
Somewhere between this ocean, those palms, and a table full of strangers,
rediscovering conversation, local culture, inspiration, and the rare luxury of unhurried time.
Perhaps what we are searching for is not something new, but something waiting to be remembered // FOR A FEW DAYS, THE WORLD CAN WAIT.
